Kenyan coast
Diani & the Coast
Seventeen kilometres of pale sand after the bush. Diani, Watamu, Lamu and Mombasa, paced as a real holiday rather than a transfer.
Indian Ocean hush
Why we keep sending people here
The coast is not an afterthought. We book the villa, the reef boat, and the dinner that is not a buffet. Diani is the easy luxury; Lamu is for people who want alleys, donkeys and no cars; Watamu is the reef. Tell us which silence you actually want.
Best time: December – March and July – October.
Getting there
Fly from the Mara or Wilson to Ukunda. The road from Nairobi is a full day and we rarely recommend it after a safari.
Where you sleep
Villas with a cook, or a quiet beach hotel with reef access. Honeymoon rooms face the water, not the car park.
Who it suits
Honeymoons, families who need a pool day, and anyone ending a safari who refuses to go straight home.
Do not miss
Highlights
— Diani’s long beach
— Snorkelling and dhow sails
— Swahili food in the old towns
— Colobus monkeys in the coastal forest

Wildlife you can reasonably expect
Colobus monkey, Sea turtle, Reef fish, Dolphin. “Expect” is not “guarantee”. We would rather you arrive curious than disappointed by a promise.
