Amboseli’s elephants are unusually relaxed around vehicles because they have been studied for decades. You sit with families in the swamps while Kilimanjaro decides whether to show itself. Cloud is part of the story — we plan two nights so you have more than one sunrise.
Best time: June – October, when the mountain is clearest.
Getting there
About four hours from Nairobi on a good day. A short flight to the airstrip if you would rather not spend the morning on the road.
